I am a high school grad who married his longtime sweetheart right after we got out of school. Things are kind of tough, money-wise, from time to time, although we do manage to get by with what I earn from working days at the meatpacking plant and some nights as a DJ. I really wish I could have more time to do what I enjoy, although the work I have to do almost always gets in the way.

My job as a loader at the plant is physically demanding, although I find that the quantifiable toil and repetitive tasks give me a lot of time for introspection. The night job I have on weekends is the exact opposite – it doesn’t tire me out physically, but mentally, as many musicians are after a long performance. I work at a couple of clubs and have a fantastic time spinning records and making mixes in Schaumburg, Glenview, Hammond, Gary, Joliet, Oak Lawn, Cicero, and Naperville, although I knew that I had to get some better equipment to become better.

I didn’t have to throw out my existing deck, but I needed the addition of another (plus a new mixer) so I could do more things to the ‘stock’ music I had. Unfortunately, I was on a shoestring budget.
